After breezing through the opening rounds, the Jersey pair, both products of the Appleby Academy, and now representing Bath University, faced a quarter final against Nicholas Leung and Wing Yun Chan from Cambridge University. The latter was a top five England junior.
Tupper and Marsay were not overawed by their illustrious opponents and with an all-out attacking onslaught took the match 3-1 to seriously upset the form book and secure at least the bronze medal.
The two Islanders were finally halted in their tracks by the number one pairing of Chris Doran and Sean Cullen of Nottingham Trent in the semi-final.
