Fine-tuning against Leeds

Sport | Published:

AFTER criticising the players' display against Moseley last weekend, Ben Harvey has made significant changes to his Jersey squad and pledged that there are shirts up for grabs for the Championship run-in.

The Island's director of rugby has named just six of the starting line-up against Moseley in his XV for the British & Irish Cup tie against Leeds Carnegie at St Peter. He denied this was a matter of rotation, or resting certain players, and said there was an opportunity for those selected to grasp.

Although both sides have no realistic chance of winning pool 5 and claiming a place in the B&I knock-out stages, Harvey is using the final two pool matches as a chance to fine-tune his squad prior to the league clashes with Rotherham and Bedford over the next month.
