Bulls savaged, but they still lift the title

Sport | Published:

CAVALIERS thumped Bulls 5-1 at Les Quennevais last night – only to lose out on the Brewin Dolphin Hockey Super League title on goal-difference – to Bulls!

Bulls, who took an early lead, claimed the title by the narrowest of margins – by one goal on goal-difference after both teams won four and lost two of their six games in a four-team group.

The new Super League champions were indebted to goalkeeper John Beswick as the stopper made several crucial saves throughout.

Bulls captain Peter Millar, back home on a mid-season break from Italy where he plays professionally for HC Tevere, said: 'We're delighted to have won the league and in the end it was a lot closer than we would have liked.'
