Iran foreign minister issues warning over nuclear deal

Iran’s Foreign Minister has warned the Trump administration that pulling out from a nuclear deal would undermine talks with North Korea by proving that America reneges on its promises.

Mohammad Javad Zarif said that if President Donald Trump withdraws, Iran would “most likely” abandon the deal as well.

Mr Zarif said Iran would no longer be bound by the deal’s international obligations.

That would free up Iran to resume enrichment activity beyond the limits imposed by the 2015 nuclear accord.

In an interview, Mr Zarif said Iran would welcome reduced tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

But he said President Trump is showing that the US “is not a trustworthy, reliable negotiating partner”.

Mr Zarif added that makes the US “a rather unlikely partner” for any other global agreements.
