Coal stock towers at Scotland’s last coal-fired power station have been “blown down” in a controlled explosion.

The towers at Longannet power station in Fife, which closed in 2016, were brought down by ScottishPower contractor Brown & Mason in calm conditions.

Demolition work is still ongoing, with more than 28,000 tonnes of material removed from the site so far.
