Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle ahead of royal wedding

The Duke of Edinburgh has appeared on the Royal Family’s Twitter account ahead of the royal wedding.

Philip was shown at Windsor where his granddaughter Princess Eugenie will marry Jack Brooksbank on Friday.

Philip, 97, who has officially retired from public duty, received Brigadier Andrew Freeman, Head of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers at Windsor Castle.

His appearance raised royal fans’ hopes he would attend Eugenie’s lavish ceremony in St George’s Chapel.

Eugenie and Jack have shared family photographs from their childhood on the eve of their wedding.

The couple posted two pictures of themselves as youngsters with their parents and siblings.

The Duke of York’s Twitter account also shared a photo of a young Jack in cap and blazer on his first day at school.

The 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards sent their best wishes to Eugenie and Jack from Iraq.

Fellow Grenadier Guards will line the chapel’s West Steps when the newlyweds leave after their ceremony.

The Duke of York is Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.
