Jury retires in speedboat death crash trial

A jury has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a web designer accused over the death of his date in a speedboat crash.

Jack Shepherd, 30, had been trying to impress 24-year-old Charlotte Brown after meeting her on dating website OkCupid, the Old Bailey heard.

Shepherd, 30, originally from Exeter, is being tried in his absence and denies the manslaughter of Ms Brown by gross negligence.

Judge Richard Marks QC sent the jury out to deliberate on its verdict on Friday.
