Packing all-wheel-drive as standard, the Karoq Scout has been designed to be more capable in trickier conditions and on poorer surfaces than the road-focused regular car.
Three powertrains are available with the Scout from launch; a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 2.0-litre diesel with 148 bhp, and another 2.0-litre diesel with 188 bhp. The 1.5-litre engine sends power through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the lower-powered diesel is available with either the automatic or a six-speed manual. Finally, the more powerful oil-burner can only be specified with the auto ‘box.
The exterior of the Scout has been lifted too, thanks to polished 18-inch wheels, tinted windows and chrome and silver-coloured bodywork elements. Larger 19-inch wheels are available as an optional extra.
Inside, the Scout benefits from seats embroidered with the ‘Scout’ logo, a multifunction steering wheel and a full interior LED light package. Skoda’s virtual cockpit infotainment system is included as standard too, and drivers can tailor this menu to their certain needs. For instance, the driving mode selection allows those behind the wheel to select an off-road setting for better handling on rougher terrain.
No prices for the Skoda Karoq Scout have been released yet but expect to hear more following the full reveal at the Paris Motor Show in October..
