The car is currently estimated at £70,000 to £80,000, and was originally delivered to Sir Elton in June 2014. Shortly after, he passed on the car to his husband David Furnish – and it has remained in his name since. It is now due to go auction as part of the Silverstone Classic event on 21 and 22 July.

‘It is a privilege to be able to offer this car at our headline sale of the year at the Silverstone Classic,’ said Harry Whale, classic car specialist, Silverstone Auctions. ‘We feel incredibly honoured for Sir Elton to have entrusted his Continental GT Speed with us, and we’re delighted to offer this very special luxury car to our customers at auction.’

The Bentley GT Speed is the pinnacle of the Continental series with its 6.0 litre W12 engine producing an amazing 626 bhp, more than a McLaren F1. Originally delivered to Sir Elton in June 2014, he passed the car on to his husband, David Furnish, in April 2015 and it has remained in his name ever since.

The luxury car is finished in a dignified shade of Onyx Black and sits on 21-inch Speed alloys which have recently been refurbished. Sir Elton’s selected options list stretches to three A4 pages, with the interior finished in Beluga leather with contrasting Hotspur Red stitching, with a number of carbon fibre fascia panels. The Bentley has covered under 22,000 miles in the hands of its two famous owners.

Naturally, the car is accompanied by a comprehensive service history, the details of which are in the owner’s file with the service booklets, which show various stamps from Bentley Berkshire and H.A. Fox in Guildford.

“This very special car comes from a highly exclusive private collection and presents an exciting opportunity to own not only one of Bentley’s most prestigious models but one that will be completely unique when compared with similar cars in the future,” concludes Harry.

In 2010, the Bentley Continental GT saw its first significant redesign since its launch in 2003. Ushering in a suite of new models, this reinvention of the quintessential modern Bentley took the Continental’s peerless craftsmanship, exquisite style and substantial power output and pushed it to an entirely new level. The redesign introduced new technology, greater efficiency, state-of-the-art materials, a sleek new silhouette, and a sportier feel.

Among the second generation models, the Continental GT Speed was introduced in 2012 and was designed to embody the perfect balance between exquisite luxury and an exhilarating drive. In creating the GT Speed, Bentley’s chassis engineers brought the car 10mm closer to the ground, laying the foundation for a sportier driving experience than that of the basic Continental GT.

Equipped with the Mulliner Driving Specification as standard, it featured diamond quilted leather seats, indented leather headlining and embroidered winged ‘B’ emblems on the headrests. Drilled alloy pedals, a knurled sports gear lever, and the Jewel fuel filler cap recall Bentley’s long racing heritage. With a peak output of 616 bhp, (slightly more than the McLaren F1 when it was first launched) the GT Speed is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) and rocketing on to a top speed of 205 miles per hour.

Silverstone Auctions are very proud to announce that this, right-hand drive, 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed is being offered directly from Sir Elton John’s private collection. Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE, is one of the most highly acclaimed and successful solo artists of all time. Across his five-decade career, he has achieved over 38 gold and 27 platinum or multi-platinum albums, 29 consecutive Top 40 hits, and has sold more than 300 million records worldwide. He took delivery of the car in June 2014 and eventually passed it on to his husband, David Furnish, in April 2015 and it has been in his name ever since.

The car itself is finished in Onyx Black and sits on (recently refurbished) 21” Speed Alloys with a Dark Tint finish. The interior hides, both primary and secondary, are in Beluga with Hotspur Red contrasting stitching, the carpets are also Beluga and there are Carbon Fibre fascia panels. Information regarding the full vehicle specification and the customer’s selected options runs to three A4 pages and in the interest of brevity and privacy will not be detailed here, however, will be made available to genuinely interested parties.

The Bentley has covered just over 21,000 miles in the hands of its two famous owners and naturally, the car is accompanied by a comprehensive service history, the details of which are in the owner’s file with the service booklets which show various stamps from Bentley Berkshire and H.A Fox in Guildford.

This very special car offers truly unique provenance and represents an exciting opportunity to own a W12 Bentley GT Speed that will always be distinguishable from similar cars in the future.
