Mini’s royal wedding S Hatch will be sold at charity auction

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are due to get married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle today. After the wedding, the Mini will be donated to the Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA) so it can be sold at auction, with all proceeds going to the charity.

The hot hatch has crystal-white paint on the outside, along with silver-blue accent stripes and a black band with a blue-tinted matte silver paint finish that coils around the car’s body. The exterior of the car also has a chrome surround on the frame of hexagonal radiator grille and the door handles. Meanwhile, the front and rear lights feature a blue-black tinted clear coat, and there’s a matte dark-blue finish on the metallic wheel rims.

The roof has a special multi-layered graphic that combines elements of both the British and American flags, symbolising the nations of origin of both Harry and Markle.

The car’s side turn indicators are surrounded with 3D-printed side scuttles, embellished with the initials of the royal couple. Both the driver and passenger doors project the phrase ‘Just Married’ on to the ground upon being opened.

Satellite-grey leather has been used for the interior trim along with blue-black chrome. The names of the bride and groom are displayed on a dashboard panel, which also shows the wedding date and wishes them well for the future.

The hatch’s headrests have elements of the British and American flags also stitched into them.

Meanwhile, the trim strips on the doors and behind the steering wheel feature accents in their stitching inspired by the graphic on the roof.

Oliver Heilmer, head of Mini design, said: ‘As an iconic British brand with almost 60 years of history in the UK, we are pleased to mark the royal wedding with this special charitable gift.

‘The Mini design team has created a one-off Mini Hatch for the occasion. Its specially designed roof graphic combines with 3D-printed personalised interior and exterior details, as well as special embroidery, to make this a Mini like no other.’
