Le Fil Rouge on show

The Le Fil Rouge concept introduces the ‘Sensuous Sport’ theme that will form the basis of the next generation of Hyundai cars, with the four-door machine bringing a new-look front fascia, short overhangs and a long wheelbase.

Most eye-catching is the addition of a new version of the South Korean manufacturer’s ‘Cascading Grille’, which
stretches the width of the front bumper, and thin, swept pillars that create a clean look.

The South Korean manufacturer says the goal of this new theme is ‘to bring instinctive beauty, creating emotional value and desirability in Hyundai vehicles’.

Luc Donckerwolke, executive vice-president and head of the Hyundai Design Centre, said: ‘Le Fil Rouge is a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s design DNA that originated from the brand’s historical Hyundai Coupe Concept in 1974.

‘Building on our long history of creating distinctive and sporty character in vehicles, we will open a new era for Hyundai design.’

Sang-yup Lee, head of Hyundai styling, said: ‘Our goal is to build a beloved brand by creating vehicles with heightened emotional value to reshape the landscape of car design. This is the foundation of our concept.’

Hyundai hasn’t confirmed which models will be the first to inherit this new design direction, but it has said it’ll cover everything from saloons to SUVs.
