Job security reassurance for Cable & Wireless/Sure staff

IT would appear that the jobs of 240 Channel Islands staff at telecoms company Cable & Wireless/Sure are safe, as the new owners say they have no plans to cut the number of people working for the business.

In their first detailed public statement since it was announced that the Bahraini Telecommunications Company would take over the C&W/Sure operations in the Channel Islands, the new owners also say they will bring innovative developments into the telecoms market.

The new company is known as Batelco and the group's chief executive for strategic assignments, Peter Kaliaropoulos, said that there were no plans for employee reductions and that when they invest in a new company, their intention is always to support the local teams.
