Building materials firm bucks trend with improved sales

Breedon Aggregates, which employs 800 people in England and Scotland, issued a trading statement this week to say that anticipated results for the year to 31 December 2012 remained in line with market expectations, assuming normal weather conditions in December.

The company said that sales volumes of aggregates and ready-mixed concrete were ahead in both England and Scotland, assisted by positive contributions from acquisitions, C&G Concrete and Readymix in England and Rothes Glen in Scotland.

The company bought Lincolnshire-based C&G Concrete out of administration for £10 million in July 2011 and in January this year acquired Nottingham based Readymix.
