Santander: Review puts 115 private banking jobs at risk

The Spanish-owned banking group is understood to be conducting a review of the operation in the Island named Santander Private Banking.

But if the result is the same as the outcome of a similar exercise conducted in the Isle of Man last year, then nothing may change.

In that case, a decision was made that the private banking division in that island would continue as part of Santander’s UK operations.

Meanwhile, an assurance has been given that the Santander corporate banking division in Jersey will be unaffected by the review of private banking activities.

A spokesman said: ‘We opened a new corporate banking centre in the Island this year and we are committed to its future.’
