ISLANDERS wanting to get their favourite shirts back from a recent public art installation can do so next week.

ArtHouse Jersey has said anyone who donated an item for the public art exhibition, Dancing Together: A Ballad by Finnish artist Kaarina Kaikkonen, can reclaim their items next Wednesday 4 December.

Over 700 shirts, which had a sentimental value to the Islanders who supplied them, were strung across Charing Cross for ten weeks earlier this year and then recently moved indoors to an exhibition at ArtHouse Jersey’s Capital House gallery.

Some shirts may have been damaged by the weather after being strung up in often wet and wintry conditions for weeks, and may have been altered slightly to make the artwork, ArtHouse Jersey have said.

Those interested in retrieving their shirts must contact the arts organisation by Monday 2 December at 5pm by emailing shirts@arts.je with a clear description or photograph of their shirt.

People are also welcome to pop into the gallery to identify their garment, the arts charity said.

Shirts will then be ready for collection on Wednesday 4 December from 10am to 6pm.

Any remaining shirts will be donated to Jersey Hospice Care, the charity added, who will forward them on for textile recycling.

Dancing Together: A Ballad exhibition finishes this Sunday at Capital House. It can be visited each day between 10am and 6pm before then.
