STRONG winds will be a feature of Jersey’s weekend weather, with an orange warning from Jersey Met remaining in place and Islanders warned to be vigilant.
Southerly winds of up to force 8 were predicted to arrive “imminently” by the forecaster in an update issued during the early hours of Saturday.
Although the temperatures will be significantly warmer than the wintry conditions experienced on Thursday, with maximum temperatures of 14°C today and 16°C on Sunday, the wind will remain a prominent feature.
In its latest update, Jersey Met warned that strong winds of force 6 to 7 would continue, with gusts up to 45mph, before easing slightly on Sunday evening.
One relief for those living in coastal areas is that a period of neap tides, with a high water mark of just 8.1 metres at 11.29am today, will mean there is little risk of water coming over sea walls.
Patchy or occasional rain is forecast today, while tomorrow is set to be a little drier.
