ISLANDERS wanting to post gifts and cards to Europe in time for Christmas should do so by 27 November, while those sending items further afield should do so by 25 November, Jersey Post has advised.
Recommended deadlines for card and parcel deliveries destined for both local and international addresses have been published by the company, which expects to sort up to 65,000 items over the festive period.
Julie Thomas, managing director for post and logistics at Jersey Post, said they were ready for a “busy peak period”.
She added: “We’ve recruited extra staff and cleared the decks to increase capacity for larger items.
“Our posties will be delivering everything from food to clothes to bikes, through our partnerships with Royal Mail, Amazon, DPD, UPS, Yodel and others.”
Jersey Post is also extending its Saturday opening hours at their Rue des Prés and Broad Street offices, which will be open each Saturday from 8.30am between 30 November until 21 December. Full Saturday opening hours can be found at jerseypost.com.
Additionally, Island children are being invited to write to the North Pole again this year.
Letters addressed to Santa can be deposited in any post box for free until Friday 13 December. Return addresses are recommended to be included with the letters so that Santa can send his replies, Jersey Post have said.
The organisation is also encouraging Islanders to use SecureDrop, which lets customers designate a safe place for postal carriers to leave deliveries.
Each household will receive an information booklet this month containing the festive dates and times for card and parcel delivers. The information is also available online at jerseypost.com/christmas.
