A FORMER paramedic has appeared in court accused of a string of sexual offences, including two counts of rape, sodomy and several charges of sexual penetration without consent.

David Moody (59), who retired from the Ambulance Service after more than 20 years’ employment, faces a total of 20 charges involving a female victim referred to only as ‘Miss X’.

Mr Moody is accused of 12 counts of sexual penetration without consent.

He is said by the prosecution to have also carried out four indecent assaults on his alleged victim.

The defendant allegedly raped the woman twice and faces two sodomy charges.

In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, the defendant – who was dressed in a jacket and tie – spoke only to confirm his name and date-of-birth, and to confirm at the end of the hearing his acknowledgement of the directions given by Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris.

Mr Harris said that the alleged offences were too serious to be considered by his court, and ordered that Mr Moody appear before the Royal Court on 2 June. He was released on conditional bail until that date.
