AN uninsured driver who struck a supermarket worker with his van has been fined £1,450.
The employee was pushing trolleys when he was hit from behind by the vehicle driven by Patryk Dominik Przbysz in the Iceland car park in Rue d’Eglise in St Peter at 5.10pm on 22 January.
Przbysz (45) admitted careless driving, driving without insurance and failing to notify the authorities of a change of address.
St Peter Centenier John Camara said Przbysz stopped and spoke to the victim and went into the store to seek help.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that Przbysz’s insurance had expired on 24 November.
Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu fined him £1,000 for careless driving, £250 for driving without valid insurance and £200 for failing to tell the authorities his new address.
He told Przbysz: ‘As this was a momentary lapse of concentration on your part and you weren’t driving fast, I am not going to disqualify you from driving.’
He was allowed to pay the fine at the rate of £150 per month.
