Officers smashed down the door of the property at about 6am and found cash and what is believed to be cannabis resin and ecstasy.

The operation is part of a ‘Force Impact Day’ being led by various States police departments, in which officers are carrying out a number of arrest warrants throughout the day.

The teams involved met at the States police headquarters shortly after 5am. The first convoy of vans filled with approximately eight police officers headed for the address and after entering the house, a search was conducted of the property and the vehicle parked outside using the States police sniffer dog Jack.

After the dog and officers found what they believe to be the drugs, one man was arrested and put into a police van at around 7am.

Another man was arrested and put a second van half an hour later.

While the drugs raid was being carried out, other members of the States police executed a child protection warrant at another location and arrested an individual on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

Officers are expected to carry out a number of warrants throughout the day and this evening they will be conducting licensing checks of night time entertainment venues.

Det Insp Huw Williams said: ‘Today is all about being intelligence and community led. The intelligence part is what police officers have been picking up and then the community part involves our community policing team who conducted a survey over the summer where Islanders were asked what they thought was of high priority out of a number of policing issues.

‘We listened to that and it came back with sexual and domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour, drugs and dangerous driving. We’re tackling three or four of those today and we will be running campaigns on others in the future.’
