THE Durrell Dash is back next month – with a spooky Halloween-themed twist.

This year’s fun run is due to take place on Sunday 6 November, starting and finishing at Jersey Zoo.

There is a choice of a 6k or 12k route, or – new for this year – a family-friendly 2.6k route for ages eight and over.

The event is sponsored by Rathbones and is Durrell’s 15th fun run. This year coincides with the Museum of Bones, a ‘spine-tingling pop-up exhibit’ at the Zoo on from 20 October to 6 November.

Runners of all abilities are being encouraged to sign up for the run (the deadline for applications is Tuesday 1 November at 9am) and get into the Halloween spirit by running in fancy dress and stopping off at a pop-up exhibit after the race.

Participants are also encouraged to create their own fundraising pages to help raise money for the animals at the Zoo and Durrell’s global efforts to ‘create a future where wildlife can thrive’.

Durrell’s director of communications and fundraising, Alexandra Shears, said: ‘Along with our event sponsor, Rathbones, we hope to see as many ghosts and ghouls as possible taking to the lanes of Trinity for this Halloween-themed fun run.’

She added: ‘We hope the public will feel inspired to take part and raise funds for Durrell’s work saving some of the world’s rarest animals.’

Prizes will be awarded to the participant who raises the most funds and the best-dressed runner.

Upon finishing the race, runners will receive a medal, refreshments at the finish line and free entry to the Zoo to experience the final day of the Museum of Bones.
