HOMES at a Bath Street development will be made available to first-time buyers on Saturday.

Property developer Le Masurier announced on Thursday that 63 first-time buyer homes would be up for sale at Merchants Square, which includes one and two-bedroom apartments.

Le Masurier managing director Brian McCarthy said: ‘We are acutely aware that first-time buyers have limited options with current stock in the housing market, so we want to give them an exclusive opportunity to get onto the property ladder ahead of a general release of this next phase of 63 apartments within Amarone.’

In March last year, prospective buyers for the Soave apartments – the third phase of Le Masurier’s Merchants Square development in Bath Street – queued from as early as 2pm the day before they went on sale on Saturday.

Maillard & Co director Leanne Kirkland said: ‘Le Masurier’s decision to offer this next release of apartments exclusively to first-time buyers, ahead of a full market release, will be positive news for Jersey residents looking to take their first step onto the property ladder.’

The news was also greeted by Housing Minister David Warr, who said: ‘I am particularly pleased to see first-time buyers being given priority for these apartments.’
