ART and the Channel Islands will take centre stage at a special book sale to raise money for the Jersey branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind on Saturday.

The organisation – now locally famous for its book sales – will hold a one-off event at St Ouen’s Parish Hall specialising in local books and a range of titles relating to art.

There will be a number of rare titles on sale, as well as many books which are now out of print.

Titles on offer include books illustrated by Edmund Blampied, copies of Joan Stevens’ Jersey Houses, A People of the Sea edited by A G Jamieson, Warwick Rodwell’s Les Ecréhous and The Fief of Sark by A H Ewen and Allan de Carteret.

Ken Syvret, the chairman of Guide Dogs for the Blind in Jersey, said: ‘There is always great interest in books with Channel Islands content or local authors and this special one-off sale will enable people to browse everything we have in this category. The book sale at the parish hall will be open from 10am to 4pm and a complimentary cup of coffee or tea and biscuits will be offered to all to thank them in a small way for the support we have received over the past 27 years of book sales.’

There will also be a selection of children’s books which are priced at 25 pence each.
