ISLANDERS are being reminded to take precautions in order to stay cool as the temperature is expected to reach 33°C on Friday.

Jersey Met is forecasting temperatures which could match the record for June’s hottest temperature in the Island. The UV is also expected to hit eight.

Some of the steps Islanders can take to minimise the health risks associated with hot weather:

-Shutting windows and drawing curtains or blinds to keep rooms as cool as possible.

-Stay out of the sun for long periods and avoid the hottest part of the day

-Wear sunscreen and hats when outside

-Have cool baths or showers

-Drink lots of water

-Wear loose cool clothing

-Never leave your dog alone in a car on a warm day

The government has also confirmed that the new water play area at Coronation Park will be open to the public from mid-morning on Friday.
