18-year-old airlifted to UK following 'stabbing'

AN 18-year-old was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital this morning after allegedly being stabbed in St Saviour.

The incident happened at 11pm yesterday (9 January) in the Le Geyt area, near Springfield.

He was found conscious in the parking area at the rear of the Unifare store and was taken to hospital. A UK-based HM Coastguard helicopter travelled to the Island this morning to take him directly to Southampton General Hospital.

Officers have said they believe the incident is isolated. They will be conducting additional patrols in the area over the coming days and are working with agencies to offer reassurance to the community.

Anyone who was in the area of the store between 8pm and 11pm or anyone who may have any information, CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to call the States police on 612612. Information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
