Firefighters and the States police were called to the scene just before 10pm.
Photos from the scene showed flames leaping out of the front of the Mercedes SUV but the fire was extinguished in around 15 minutes.
During the same evening emergency services were kept busy attending traffic incidents on Queens Road, Rue De La Scelletterie in St Lawrence, Bagot Road in St Saviour and Rue du Galet near Victoria Avenue.
