Emergency services were called to the incident at around 1.38pm after reports that a man had fallen in Ann Street.

The man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital where his condition was being assessed yesterday afternoon. No further details about his condition had been provided at the time of going to print.

All three emergency services attended the scene and an investigation is now under way.

The incident took place at Ann Court, an Andium Homes development of five new residential blocks which are being built by Camerons. The company’s chairman, Marc Burton, said the firm was working with the man’s family and the authorities.

‘We can confirm that there has been an incident on site,’ he said. ‘We have notified, and are working with, all relevant authorities and we are working with his employers and his family so they are aware of the situation.’

Andium Homes spokesman Carl Mavity said that their overriding concern was
for the person involved and added: ‘It is our site but we have contracted with a professional developer to build the site out for us.

‘We take health and safety matters very seriously and we absolutely require that our contractors do likewise and there is no evidence to suggest that has not been the case here.

‘The Health and Safety Inspectorate are looking into the incident and we will let them get on and investigate and come up with any recommendations they have.’
