The number of known Covid cases rises to almost 280 – and seven people in hospital have tested positive

THE number of known active cases of Covid-19 has risen to 278 – and seven people in hospital have tested positive, the government has confirmed.


Since yesterday, 11 people have recovered and 42 new cases have been identified (two through inbound travel, eight through planned workforce screening, 14 through contact tracing, 12 while individuals were seeking healthcare, five through cohort screening, and one through admissions screening).

The figures were released on the day that wearing masks in many indoor public places became compulsory.

By Tuesday evening, a total of 1,112 people were awaiting results. The average turnaround time is ten hours.
