The Health Department has confirmed that the ‘older male patient’ had been admitted to the Hospital for palliative care and was subsequently found to have tested positive for the virus as part of the screening process at the Hospital.
The patient had been awaiting transfer to Jersey Hospice and had been receiving end-of-life care for non-Covid related health problems.
There have been a total of 33 Covid-19 registered deaths in the Island since the start of the pandemic. The number of known active cases as of Wednesday afternoon is 165.
