Children’s Covid emotions expressed through artwork

‘Skipton Forget Me Knots’, created by ArtHouse Jersey, features thousands of flowers strung together, designed by Island schoolchildren who were asked to explore their experiences and emotions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The exhibition runs until Friday 4 December and people are encouraged to book visiting slots in advance by visiting the ArtHouse Jersey website.

Tom Dingle, director of ArtHouse Jersey, said the installation produced was ‘really special’ for the Island at a time when a sense of community was most needed.

He added: ‘It has been an extremely trying time for many Islanders, not least our children, and this project serves to remind us that there are as many experiences as there are people out there, something we could do well not to forget as we look to support each other as a community through to the other side of Covid-19.’

The exhibition will feature a commissioned soundscape from composer Thomas Gandey, who has produced a 27-minute musical piece to support the installation.

Lorraine Mclean, mortgage sales manager at Skipton International, said: ‘We hope everyone will take the opportunity to visit what is sure to be a very powerful and moving installation by our Island’s schoolchildren, expertly facilitated and produced by ArtHouse Jersey.’

Due to Covid-19 safety guidelines, only 20 people are able to visit the exhibition at any one time. Times can be booked through the ArtHouse Jersey website or by searching ‘Skipton Forget Me Knots’ on Eventbrite.
