Number of active Covid cases rises to 61

The new cases covered Friday, Saturday and Sunday and included 25 passengers who had travelled to the Island. Of those, the government said 18 had been isolating since their arrival.

A further five cases were identified following contact tracing.

Of the total current cases, details of which were made public on Monday night, 21 are symptomatic and 40 are asymptomatic. One person is in hospital.

In a statement the government said: ‘The thirty new cases include a group of eight agricultural workers who had been isolating in their employee accommodation since arriving in Jersey. Their employer’s protocol requires all newly arrived workers to isolate for five days and the group’s positive results came back during this isolation period.

‘Of the twenty-five arrivals, seventeen were residents and eight were visitors. All their direct contacts have been traced and are being tested.’

It added that 15 people who tested positive arrived from green areas, seven from amber, three from red, and the five identified through contact-tracing were already in Jersey. Of the 30, 22 arrivals and one direct contact tested positive on day zero, six on day five and one on day eight.
