Enforcement order stops work on listed property in St Ouen

According to the document, served on former Tamba Park owner Jonathan Ruff, the work took place at La Vielle Fontaine and field 01149, on Profonde Rue in St Ouen.

The notice says that work was carried out to the interior of the grade-three listed building and that land in the field was excavated and regraded to create an ‘earth bund’.

A roadside boundary was also removed and a timber sleeper was installed adjacent to the road.

The Planning Department allege that all works were carried out without planning permission being in place.

‘It is considered expedient that the activities cease in order to prevent further damage to the character and integrity of the listed building and its setting and to the landscape character of the green zone to prevent the loss of agricultural land.’ the notice said.

‘You are hereby required to stop all works within the areas specified in this notice immediately.’

The notice added that failure to stop work could result in prosecution under the terms of the Planning and Building Law.

It is the fourth enforcement notice that the department have issued this year.

Mr Ruff said the notice was a ‘minor thing’ and that he was working with the department to have all matters rectified within a week.

‘It is all just to do with a bank in a field as they are only allowed to go up to a certain height,’ he said.

Speaking about the alleged works carried out on the listed building, he said: ‘They just put that on there to make sure that it is protected. The whole reason I have got the property is because of the interior, we want to retain it.

‘We will have the whole issued rectified within a week.

‘I have been working with the Planning Department on this for about a week now.’
