French travel warning for Islanders

News | Published:

ISLANDERS are being discouraged from visiting Brittany this weekend after a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the French region - including in St Malo.

The Government of Jersey said a recent increase in cases specifically in St Malo and the surrounding area had led the Health Minister and deputy medical officer to update their advice.

They added it did not impact those driving through the area to visit other parts of France.

In a statement, the government said Islanders were being discouraged from visiting and staying in the area this weekend.

It added: ''At this time, we’re not moving France from the green category of our country risk assessment, as it remains within the criteria at both national and regional levels. We’ll continue to closely monitor the situation and amend the rating if necessary.'
