On Tuesday evening two crews responded to the blaze at a private home.
Blue Watch and a crew of on call firefighters put out the fire with a hosereel, while wearing breathing apparatus.
In a statement, the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service urged people to check their smoke detectors as in this case the alarm was not working.
‘The importance of a “working detector” can be the difference between life and death. Fortunately on this occasion there were no injuries,’ the statement added.
