Mark Cox appointed Co-op chief executive

Mark Cox has been fulfilling the role in an acting capacity for the past ten months. He succeeds former chief executive Colin Macleod.

Mr Cox, who joined the Co-op in 2010 as chief operating officer, said: ‘It is a real privilege to lead an amazing institution that is the Channel Islands Co-operative Society.

‘I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with my exceptional colleagues and our board of directors to make a real difference to the communities we serve. Together, we will remain focused on being a successful co-operative maximising value for our customers, members, local partners and providing the best opportunities and experiences for our colleagues.’

Paula Williams, president of the board of directors, said that Mr Cox was ‘the right person to drive the society forward’.

She said: ‘We are delighted to announce Mark’s appointment. He has ensured the society was able to navigate the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, keeping members and colleagues alike safe.

‘We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Colin for his significant contribution to the society over the last 30 years and wish him all the best.’
