Artist Ian Rolls, who created the climate-stripe mural at the Underpass, also painted two artworks on the same theme, which he is putting up for auction for the charities.
Climate-stripe charts show whether individual years are colder (blue) or warmer (red) than the long-term average and are now widely used to demonstrate global warming.
One artwork features the White House which is painted on the old window shutter from the gable end of the St Ouen’s Bay building, and the other is a watercolour of Corbière Lighthouse. Both are on display at The Pitt Stream Gallery in Pitt Street, which is part of the trust-owned Foot buildings.
The current highest bids are £400 for the White House and £650 for Corbière Lighthouse, which is also available as a limited-edition signed print of 200 priced at £120 each, with £20 of that being donated to Trees for Life.
Bids can be taken for the two original paintings by email to rolls@pittstream.gallery. Bidders should give their name, contact details, the amount of their bid and the title of the painting that the bid is for. Bids can also be left in person at the gallery, where the paintings are on display. The closing date for bids is 23 June.
