Natasha Gallie, who has worked as an event planner and fundraiser for a local charity in the past, said she had been inspired to launch the Hotel Overnight Giveaway For Jersey Healthcare Workers group by the various random acts of kindness she had seen locally.
A number of hotels have donated prizes, including Longueville Manor, Hotel de France, the St Brelade’s Bay Hotel, Greenhills, the Pomme d’Or and the Merton, and the draw is due to take place on 2 May at 8pm.
She said: ‘I have seen so many acts of kindness in our community and I felt that I wanted to organise something extra special for our healthcare workers who are going above and beyond the call of duty to help our Islanders at this difficult time.
‘Many are being forced to stay away from families to protect them by staying in hotels, and many have had to cancel special events, like anniversaries and birthdays, so I wanted to find a way to give back.
‘I have had a brilliant response and hotels have been eager and delighted to have been asked to contribute to this and have all said what a lovely idea this is and have thanked me for the opportunity to get involved. Hotels have even offered evening meals and full use of spa facilities too.
‘I have had some lovely emails regarding my idea and I am so very grateful that the Jersey hotels are so kind by donating a prize.’
The giveaway is solely for healthcare workers, and colleagues tag to nominate their co-workers or people can nominate themselves.
The draw will be live online, with details via the Facebook page, which is using the hashtag #timetotreatyou.
Malcolm and Patricia Lewis, owners of Longueville Manor, said they had ‘jumped’ at the chance to be involved with the giveaway.
‘When asked if we would like to be involved in this initiative we jumped at the opportunity. To be able to thank the well-deserving healthcare workers for their hard work and dedication during this terribly difficult time really means a lot to us, and we will be delighted to treat the winner to a night of pure relaxation once Longueville Manor reopens.’
