The figure represents an increase of 178,473 passengers compared to 2018 and a growth of 38% since the company set up in the Island.
Chief executive Kevin Hart says that the rise was partly a result of listening to customer feedback and consulting with the public on a regular basis about the timetable and level of service.
‘Over the past seven years we have added routes,
increased frequency of peak time, evening and weekend services and continually train and develop staff to provide the best possible customer service,’ he said
‘I am proud of the team and what we have achieved but we are not resting on our laurels. We have just completed the public consultation for our 2020 summer timetable and are looking to bring further improvements to the service this year.’
The company has also now released the results of a survey which collected the views of over 4,000 people.
According to the research, the company achieved a customer satisfaction score of 8.3 out of ten.
This compares to the 7.1 out of 10 score achieved during the last survey in 2014.
Meanwhile, 98% of passengers were satisfied with the service they received at the customer service desk.
The survey found that 38% of customers used the bus service for commuting to and from work, followed closely by leisure and recreation at 34% while 69% of respondents owned cars.
And 48% of those who took part in the survey said they used the bus because of difficulty finding parking.
Meanwhile, Infrastructure Minister Kevin Lewis said that LibertyBus had delivered on targets set by the government to increase bus usage year on year.
‘Increasing bus ridership is an important element in taking cars off the road – which is one of the main aims of the new Sustainable Transport Policy to be debated in March,’ he said.
‘This is all the more remarkable considering recent research undertaken across England has shown the number of bus journeys outside London has fallen by 15%.
‘I am delighted to see LibertyBus and Jersey bucking this national trend of decline, I look forward to building on the strong start to the Sustainable Transport Policy, supporting more improvements and growth.’
Between 2013 and 2018, the population rose from 99,900 to 106,800 – a rise of 6,900 people.
