Travel disruption expected during Storm Ciara

The weather system – the third named storm of the season – is forecast to bring severe weather from late on Saturday.

Gale-force winds are expected over Jersey, with the possibility of severe gales over the Channel. Forecasters say the strong winds are likely to last into early next week.

Condor has cancelled its Liberation crossings on Sunday and Monday.

Aurigny, meanwhile, has said that it might have to cancel flights and is advising customers to contact the airline if they want to change their booking.

‘We are expecting the winds to be at their strongest during Sunday and into the morning of Monday.

‘During this time there is the possibility that conditions may be out of operational limits,’ the airline said.

The UK Met Office has issued a weather warning for the whole of the British Isles on Sunday.
