Brian McMahon (51) is accused of one count of manslaughter in relation to the death of Melvin Murphy (65) last September.
Mr McMahon appeared briefly in the Royal Court on Friday but the case was adjourned until Friday 6 March while further reports are compiled.
He was released on bail and was told that he must enter a plea on that date.
