Staff are working to tackle a growing mosquito problem after a waste water pipe near the bar clogged up, creating the perfect environment for them to breed.
One passenger took a photo (right) of four of the critters that he managed to catch within half-an-hour.
A spokesman for Ports of Jersey yesterday confirmed the outbreak but said they were now working to deal with the creatures found in the departure lounge.
‘A waste pipe under the bar area in the airside lounge has been damaged and measures are being taken later this week to fix the issue and take appropriate action to clear the excess of foul water that has unfortunately built up, resulting in the presence of mosquitoes,’ he said.
‘In the meantime, steps are being taken to treat the affected area until such time as the pipe has been fixed.’
