Mother with cancer thankful for support after £32K donations

But Fliquet Renouf says she is not at a point yet ‘where I can say if or when that can happen’.

The Islander was diagnosed with advanced forms of cancer in her spine, lungs, spleen and liver last year after suffering from chronic back pain and other health problems for over a year.

Since her diagnosis, friends, family and strangers have helped raised more than £32,000 to support her and her family while she undergoes a relentless regime of treatment.

Updating her followers on her @body.illustration Instagram account, Ms Renouf, who has a seven-year-old daughter called Dakota, said she was ‘eternally grateful’ for the support she had received.

She was diagnosed with cancer following a fall in which she suffered compression fractures in her spine. Doctors treating her fractures spotted
signs of the disease, which was confirmerd by a CT scan.

She said on social media: ‘My health has gotten in the way of so much this year and honestly it’s been more than a toughie! Luckily I finally have the correct diagnosis after spending the past year suffering agonising pain and working through stage-four cancer in four areas, six broken vertebrae and two close calls!

‘Next year is all about healing for me, I hope to be able to start tattooing soon but I am still not at a stage where I can say if or when that can happen. I do have some new non-tattooing projects lined up and I’m so excited to be back in the studio part-time as a desk girl so come hang out!’

In a separate post, Ms Renouf spoke about her chemotherapy treatment, being allowed home for a few days over Christmas and her thanks to the Friends of Jersey Oncology team ‘for the Christmas pressies’.

‘In the new year I will have further assessments on the damage to the six broken vertebrae in my spine. Unfortunately this will not heal while the lymphoma resides in my bone marrow but I am dying to get back to some sort of work soon. Maybe thinking of doing up some merch[andise] and prints for the new year. Thank you to all my clients who have been so incredibly patient with me while I’ve been out of the studio. I wanna tattoo y’all again soon!’
