Fundraising appeal for mother battling cancer exceeds target

A FUNDRAISING campaign for a young mother diagnosed with late-stage cancer has raised over £22,000 – more than £7,000 above its initial target.

Fliquet Renouf was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma and has had to fly to Southampton for treatment.

The online fundraising campaign, which was set up by the friends of Miss Renouf, has had 925 donations, raising a total of £22,652 to help the 26-year-old mother of one and her family.

Miss Renouf, who has been described by her friends as an ‘incredible friend and mother’, was diagnosed with lymphoma after going to hospital with back pain following a fall.

After undergoing tests it was confirmed that Miss Renouf had multiple aggressive tumours which had spread to her spine, lungs, liver and spleen.

In response to the donations, Jessica Silver, who set up the JustGiving page, said: ‘We all cannot thank you enough for the generosity shown. The love shown for Fliq is just amazing, she’s hard not to love!

‘We have reached our initial goal but we do still have a lot further to go. This was to help Fliq and her beautiful family until the end of the year but they still have a long journey ahead so we need to keep going! You’re all so amazing!’
