St Helier approves town council plan

Work has been going on behind the scenes for around a year to create a town-council-style body in St Helier.

The aim of the shadow town council is to devolve more powers from the States, enabling some services to be agreed and delivered at local government level.

It will run on a trial basis for 2020. The St Helier Parish Assembly voted 39 to six in favour at a meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday evening.
