Moomin thief targets Jersey charity shop

The police have been contacted after eight tea trays, bearing images of the popular children’s cartoon characters Moomins, as well as two mugs were stolen from the Oxfam Shop on New Street.

Nina Travers, manager of the store, said: ‘Shoplifting is horrible anywhere but from a second-hand shop that raises money for charity, for children in Africa, it is really low.’

She believes that due to the amount of items stolen the thief will be looking to sell the goods on.

She is considering contacting local car boot sales, including the one at Millbrook, to ask them to keep an eye out and has issued an appeal on social media.

Mrs Travers has urged anyone with any information to contact the shop on 733675 or call the States police on 612612.
