Blind woman abused and guide dog grabbed in attack on beach

The incident happened on Monday at around 11.50am between the Dicq slipway and the slipway at Millard’s corner.

According to the police, a woman in her 40s was walking along the beach with her mother and her guide dog when she was approached by another woman, who began shouting at them about the dog.

The woman attempted to remove the dog from its harness by grabbing one of its legs, before she was stopped by the mother of the dog owner.

She continued to be abusive towards the dog owner and insulted her about being blind.

A police statement described the suspect as being ‘of medium height, very thin with grey wiry hair and she was wearing a grey T-shirt with a black animal rights logo on it’.

An investigation has been launched and the police are asking any witnesses or know the suspect to contact them on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
