Murder inquiry: Police name woman who died

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a 68-year-old woman died from suspected stab wounds.

A 40-year-old man is currently in police custody

Police have now confirmed that Pamela Margaret Nisbet died at a residential address in St Peter.

The States police said on Tuesday night that a 40-year-old man, who was known to the alleged victim, was being held on suspicion of murder and no one else is currently being sought in connection with the case.

In a statement, the force said: 'At 6.56pm this evening (6 August 2019) States of Jersey Police were called by States of Jersey Ambulance Service to a suspected stabbing at a residential address in St Peter.

'Armed officers from SoJP arrived at the scene at 7.05pm and arrested a 40-year-old man, who is currently being held in police custody.

'The victim, a 68-year-old woman, was taken to the Emergency Department but died of her wounds.'

The statement added: 'A murder investigation has been launched and the scene secured, with both SoJP and St Peter’s Honorary Police in attendance.

'The suspect - who is held on suspicion of murder - and victim were known to each other and nobody else is sought in relation to this incident.

'The victim’s family are aware.'
