AN Islander needed hospital treatment after allegedly being assaulted by another man as they argued over the behaviour of their dogs in a country park.

The incident happened after the men became embroiled in what the States police are describing as a heated argument in Pont Marquet Country Park, St Brelade, between 8pm and 9pm on Friday.

One of the men allegedly assaulted the other, leaving him with facial injuries. An ambulance was called and the 49-year-old was taken to hospital.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at an address in St Helier later in the evening on suspicion of grave and criminal assault. He has been released on police bail.
