Civil servants reject pay offer

The offer was a 1% pay rise for 2018 and 2019, 2.1% in one-off cash payments over the two years and a 1.3% above-inflation pay award for 2020.

In a joint statement, JCSA Prospect and Unite unions said: ‘Ballots on the employer’s final offer for 2018-20 for civil service employees held by Staffside closed at noon on the 1 July 2019. Members have clearly expressed their discontent about the offer, with 62.4% voting against acceptance.

‘Staffside members have made their intentions clear and we hope the employer will take this final chance to get back to meaningful negotiations to reach a settlement before we continue our program of action.

‘Staffside members are professional people who take pride in providing an efficient and cost effective service to the people of the Island, but they also expect to be treated with respect and in a professional manner by their employer – the States of Jersey. They have seen the employer offer improved pay awards to other pay groups whilst they are being left behind.’
