The comic, who is touring with his show John Cleese – Last Time To See Me Before I Die, posted on social media about nights he said he was due to play at the venue on 7 and 15 August, complaining that his calls and emails were going unanswered.
However, searches of the theatre’s website showed no listing for Mr Cleese for the dates he was tweeting about.
He posted: ‘A plea for help from my Twits on the island of Jersey! Does anyone know why the Theatre Director is not answering my emails or calls in connection with my shows at @JerOperaHouse on the 7th & 15th of August?’
His tweet was met with a host of responses, with one user even questioning whether he was due to play in Guernsey rather than Jersey.
Mr Cleese, who appeared at the Jersey Opera House in 2007, responded to several tweets and at one point said there had been silence for several days from the Opera House.
Yesterday lunchtime, the former Monty Python star took to Twitter again to clear up the situation and to say it looked as if he would be performing in August.
He said: ‘Good news! We’ve heard back and we hope to be performing in Jersey on the 7th and 15th August.’
The Opera House’s theatre director, Jasmine Hendry, did not confirm whether Mr Cleese would be performing in the Island on those dates, but she said discussions were taking place with his management company.
She added: ‘All I can say is we are talking to his management company.’
